Clijsters Retires

Kim Clijsters from Belgium retires after losing in Warsaw, Poland. Her retirement came earlier than expected as she had previously mentioned that she plans to retire after the US Open in September. Her reasons for retiring are almost predictable; injuries, lack of motivation and moving on in life.

However, at 23, she is one of the youngest if not the youngest to quit the sports. In fact, she quitted the sports at her prime. Currently, she is ranked no.4. Having amassed a considerably amount of $14.7 million in prize money, she has nothing to worry about after retirement, finanically.

Kim Clijsters, for the longest time owned the unflattering title of the bestest player never to have won a grand slam title. She was in 4 grand slam finals before triumphanting in the 2005 US Open. I believe, given her talent, she could have well won more than 5 slams. However, her pit-fall is her lack of confidence to close out matches.

Goodbye Kim and you will be missed in the tennis scene.

Interject :

Finally, everything to be settled has been setttled ableit in the way not I had wanted it to be. Was out watching soccer and dining with Aaron, Druce and Cyril. Manchester United has done it yet again, to scrape out a victory with a marginal 1-0 win over Manchester City, courtesy of a penalty. Looking at things, Man U deserves to win and was a better team that night.

Was out playing tennis this afternoon with Dins and Alex. Was pretty happy with my performance especially my service. Not the prettiest ball striker, i think with the amount of formal training i haf, i should be happy with myself....haha...self-consolation. Looking forward to many bigger and better things.
